Califf's treatment of caesura, word order, rhythmic effects, and the like is the best I have ever read. His discussions of the lyric meters is outstanding. As far as I know, Latin verse composition|About the Author||David J. Califf teaches Latin at the Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova, Pennsylvania. He has published widely on Latin poetry and verse composition, and a number of his Latin poems have appeared in 'The Classical Outlook'.
